Test 2-Wire and 4-Wire channel units in D4 channel
banks and SLC-96* systems
Gives technician signaling control for adjustment
and verification without far end personnel
Eliminates the need for far end SPTS while aligning
FX circuits
Provides field verification of VF levels and
signaling bits
Facilitates acceptance testing of channel units
Channel unit extender with the built-in functions of signal path test set (SPTS) and the D3/D4
portable test set
Jack fields for access to E&M
signals and also to the line and drop sides of the transmit and
receive circuits
404, 1004 and 2804 Hz
"slope" tones for level testing, 2713 Hz loop-around
tone
External tone generator input jack
also included monitors A and B signaling bits in the THRU mode;
monitors and controls A and B signaling bits in the control mode
The 4318 Channel Unit Extender Test Set
provides a compact means of testing the receive and transmit operation
of any given channel unit. Cable pairs are accessible in both the LINE
and DROP directions. Internal VF test points within the channel unit are
available to measure gain or attenuation between the channel unit and
the cable pairs. When the VF path is opened, a tone with a known reference
level can be inserted to complete the VF circuit to monitor down-line
operation. There is no need for personnel working together at both ends of
the circuit during adjustment and verification. The 431B, equipped with the
optional Level Meter, is all that is needed for signaling, level testing and
alignment of SLC-96* Systems and D4 Channel Banks.
